Can you imagine the splendor of that moment when John saw "those who had been victorious over the beast and his image and the number of his name?" These people have faced horrendous circumstances and now enjoy the fruit of that stand. As humans, we see this as the ultimate victory and the end of God's wrath upon the earth, but God does not see that at all. He knows exactly what must be done to prepare the earth for the New Jerusalem which prompts Him to reveal the angels with the seven bowls of His wrath. That thought prompted me to a verse in 1 Corinthians 10 that reminds me that God will allow temptation and stress and heartache in my life, but He will never allow more than I can handle. We have all said or heard someone say, "I am at the end of my rope; I cannot handle anymore." Once again, this is our fleshly perspective, because God promises He will never put more on us than we can handle. We want to lay down and give up, but He wants us to stand and fight. He tells us continually that we can do it in His power if we will simply submit to Him and ask. Are you hurting deeply today? Is there a temptation that is pushing for your submission? Our God knows and understands and provides help in those difficult moments, but we must submit so that we can stand. God knew what the earth needed to prepare for the coming city, and He knows what you need to prepare for eternity.

Help me, Lord, to stand strong in the midst of temptation, heartache, and infirmities. Help me to submit fully to Your plan and Your power knowing I cannot win this battle on my own.
