HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all the wonderful dads. I hope you have a wonderful day of celebration and fun with those you love most. David is again under attack. His emotions seems to ebb and flow with the intensity of the battle, but he always reveals a strong faith in God’s ability to produce victory from the snares of defeat. On Father’s Day, I think it wise to see David’s relationship with God as more than master/servant. David knew God as his Heavenly Father. He loved God and walked in His ways. He knew God from his study of the Word, and he trusted God beyond any other being in the universe. He believed that God was always with him and always fighting for him...sounds like a pretty good description of a dad to me. Do you see God in that light? Jill and I will celebrate our first Father’s Day without our fathers this year. They have both left this earth for eternity yet we have a Heavenly Father who we can celebrate at all times. He never fails us or forsakes us, and we can trust Him to be with us through all of life’s ups and downs. Is He your Heavenly Father? I pray that your relationship with Him is still growing and that He becomes even more of a Father to you over the next days, weeks, months, and years. David had a Heavenly Father that he trusted with all his heart. We must learn to trust in that same manner, because we serve a mighty God!

Help me, Lord, to celebrate my Heavenly Father today even as I celebrate the earthly dad you have given me. Help me to trust my Heavenly Father through all of life’s trials and celebrations and to walk faithfully with Him.
