Psalm 62

Do you really believe God can take care of you? David is once again struggling with his enemies and proclaims his absolute trust in God alone to defeat them. He calls God his Rock, his Salvation, and his Fortress. These are powerful words the reveal a complete dependence upon Yahweh to protect and provide for him. Have you ever thought of God in that way? He is our Rock, our Salvation, and our mighty fortress. We can trust Him when nothing else make sense and when everyone seems against us. How often do your thoughts wander to the Almighty? I know that we always think of Him when times are tough and we “need” Him, but if we are being honest, we need Him at all times. Our minds should be “stayed on” Him even when the party is at its peak, because He provided the party. He gives me breath each day and determines when that breath will stop. He provides the health needed to make money to take care of my family, and He provides for every need that arises in my life. This is the God that we serve! David trusted Him wholeheartedly, and we must learn to do the same in good times and in difficult ones. Where should we start? I start most mornings with this verse, “this is the day that the Lord has made, therefore, I will rejoice and be glad in it.” Every day is not always a rejoicing-type day, but we still must figure out how to rejoice. If I believe God made this day, then I can rejoice in it.

Help me, Lord, to trust You as absolutely as David did. Help me to rejoice in the good and difficult times, because you have prepared each day for my eventual good and for Your glory.
