What can man do to you?   David’s question gets to the heart of the matter.  Many times, we live in fear of what a person might do to us if we talk about Jesus or try to live our lives for Him.  We literally fear for our reputation and will hide our faith from those who need it most.  David is under attack, and yet, he trusts fully in the Lord to protect him.  He looks back at all that God has done and rejoices.  He sees God’s goodness through the years and boldly trusts Him to defeat his enemies and set him on solid ground.  The challenge before us is daunting.  We live in a culture that tells us to “shut up and sit down” as Christ-followers.  We are expected to keep our faith to ourselves so that we do not “offend” anyone.  God, however, tells us to “go into all the world and preach the Gospel.”  It is truly a conundrum unless we answer the question posed above.  What can man do to you?  If God is truly for us then it really does not matter who is against us, because “greater is He that is in me than he who is in the world.”  We must move past our fear and take the Gospel to the world as God opens doors of opportunity.  Will you trust God enough to step out of your comfort zone and share the Good News with all who will listen?  It is not really an option; instead, it is God’s mandate for us as His kids.  He is calling us to walk by faith and not by fear.  Are you ready?

Help me, Lord, to stop fearing what man can do to me.  Help me to live by faith in Your ability to protect and use me for Your glory and for the growth of Your kingdom.
