David is almost panicked by his enemies attacks.  He fears that he will not be able to stand against them and that they will not only defeat him but mock him for his weakness.  His only hope is Yahweh.  He asks for intervention and for a complete change to the situation that he is facing.  I think of David as the fierce warrior who boldly fought Goliath with a slingshot and some stones and now he is living in fear for his life and his reputation.  Can God take a situation that must have been pretty bad and change it to benefit His people?  We know that he can because of the consistent number of examples found in the pages of the Bible.  God has revealed His power and His love for His people through those moments when He steps in and turns everything for our good.  Will He always do that?  Eventually, yes, but that does not mean it will happen immediately after we ask.  As a matter of fact, most of those attacks are laced with important lessons for our spiritual growth.  We must face them to learn those lessons and then trust Him to step in at just the perfect moment.  We must cling tightly to His promise to never give us more than we can handle when it comes to temptation; however, we cannot dictate to God what we can and cannot handle.  David felt like he was on the brink of devastation, and He knows His only hope is Yahweh.  Where is your hope today?

Help me, Lord, to stand strong against the attacks of my enemies.  Help me to find all my hope in You knowing You will step in at the perfect moment and use it all for my good.
