David knows from experience that God will protect him and provide for his needs. As he faces another enemy, the king does so with no fear or anxiety, because he trusts completely in Yahweh. He prays for those who are entering into battle that God will be with them and go before them to defeat their enemies. He proclaims their victory before the battle begins because God is present and fighting for them. He makes this powerful statement, "some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God." Can you honestly say that? We, as Americans, struggle with the idea of need. We assume that if the store is out of our favorite brand of potato chip, we are in great need. Truthfully, we must stop trusting in our bank accounts or our ability to work and make money and start trusting in the God who fills the bank accounts and provides the health needed to stay employed. It is all His, and only He is worthy of our dependence. The beautiful part of that thought is that He is completely dependable. We have nothing to fear when God is fighting for us. Lay yourself prostrate before Him and lean fully on Him for all that you are and all that you have.

Help me, Lord, to trust completely in You for my daily sustenance and victory over my enemies. Help me to learn to trust You alone in every situation knowing You are fighting for me in every battle I face.
