The psalmist is writing about the temple in Jerusalem. A magnificent structure built by King Solomon and covered almost completely in gold. It was a grand place to worship the Lord knowing He was present in that place. Many songs are written to celebrate the temple that the Jews believed would never be destroyed. They, of course, were wrong because they never grasped the seriousness of their sin. As a follower of Christ, you are now the temple of the Holy Spirit. He literally dwells in you. We can celebrate every day because He abides in us and walks with us through all of life’s highs and lows. He transforms us from a sinner to a saint simply by His presence and slowly rounds off the rough edges to make us more usable vessels in His kingdom work. If you know Jesus as Savior and allow sin to rule your life, then you probably have no clue how destructive it really is. Sin destroyed the temple just as it will destroy your family, your children, your influence, your finances, and even your church. It has that kind of power over us, but with Jesus, we have a choice. You cannot sit back and blame a parent, grandparent, friend or other family member for your struggle with sin. They might have opened a door, but you are choosing to walk through that door over and over again. Christian, you literally have the Holy Spirit of God living inside of you. Stop giving in and start walking by faith. He will not fail you and your worship will only grow in authenticity and power.

Help me, Lord, to stop giving sin a stronghold in my life. Help me to live as Your temple totally focused on Your plan for my life.
