The children of Israel were given a clear picture of how to live and how to worship, and all God expected them to do was stay faithful to it. This was an act of faith on their parts, but it was wrapped up in their obedience to what God had given them in the Law. In Christ, we have a brand new covenant that is based completely on faith. Scripture provides no works that we can do to be right with God; instead we are completely dependent upon the work that Jesus did on Calvary. He ushered in this new covenant that is now "enacted on better promises." These promises will be written on our hearts and our minds by God Himself, and those people will be His people and He will be their God. Does that sound like the life you are currently living? If you think that your good works will somehow make everything okay between you and God, then rethink what You believe and carefully consider the truth presented in God's Word. We are to spend time in the Scriptures so that God can write them on our hearts and minds and get us prepared for eternity. Is He your God, and are you His people? If so, you will live like it and look like it. You will stand out in a crowd because of who He is and what He has done in your life.

Help me, Lord, to walk consistently in the new covenant that comes through Christ. Help me to faithfully study Your Word so that You can write it on my heart and on my mind.
