The opposite of unbelief is faith. The writer reveals the incredible truth that God requires total and complete faith in His Son, the perfect Sacrifice for our sin to be right with Him. The challenge is to walk by faith every day, because we face constant temptations, frustrations, and dysfunction. When we fall away from God, we prove our lack of faith. Adrian Rogers, one of the greatest preachers in the modern-day church says this, "Faith that fizzles before the finish was flawed from the first." Can a Christian "backslide"? Absolutely, anyone can get caught up in themselves, in life, in children and push God out of the picture for a time, but eventually, that person who truly trusted in Jesus will return to Him. How does that happen? It happens when the two-edged sword of God's Word begins to tear down the walls we have built and starts a spiritual surgery that reveals our deepest fears and begins the process of healing and reconciliation. This is why the Scriptures are such an important part of our lives. They keep us on the straight path, and they call us back to that path if we have left it. We can hear God's Word in certain songs, through people at work, and by opening it personally and reading the truth. We must permeate our surroundings with God and His Word so that we can stay faithful in the midst of the draw of this sinful culture.

Help me, Lord, to keep the faith each day of my life. Help me to fill my life with Your Word to the point that it begins to flow out of me and into the lives of faith followers and those that have fallen away from the faith.
