Can you imagine brothers selling one of their siblings on the open market? Hatred is a powerful force that can push us to the extremes emotionally and physically. Did Joseph handle everything in his relationship with his brothers correctly? Obviously, he did not, but we have to be careful when trying to place blame. Selling another human being is not acceptable under any circumstance. These brothers did not care about the future consequences, their father's heartbreak, or about God's Word to them. Hatred pushes us to act in a manner that is opposite the Scripture and normally brings reproach upon us. The media in this country glorifies hate making it something we should all experience, but our God tells us to love our neighbors and our enemies. Which will you choose? God had an incredible plan for Joseph despite his brother's hatred towards him. Their hatred did not any way change what God was going to do. We believe hatred gives us power when in reality it makes us powerless, because we are under the control of another. Who do you need to forgive today? Who do you need to reconcile with today? As a child of God, it is your responsibility to act in love towards those that seem to hate or despise you. That is God's calling upon your life.
Help me, Lord, to love my neighbors and my enemies. Help me to put away any hatred that might rule my life so that I can enjoy Your incredible plan.
