Moses and his sister, Miriam, write a song together about what just happened at the Red Sea. They know without question that God did it, and that He deserves all the praise for their protection. They say, "The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is His name." Have you ever thought of God in that manner? He is our warrior, the One who goes into battle before us. He is the One who shows up at just the right moment and reminds us that He is the Lord of all this universe. My heart is filled at the knowledge that He goes before me. I do not have to forge my own paths and fight my way to the top; I simply walk by faith and allow God to take me where He wants me to go. If we are not careful, we can make it difficult for God to go before us. We must have safeguards against sin which can limit God's work in our lives and stop our pride from running rampant. These are key components to winning wars. Most of these wars, by the way, are fought in another realm where we cannot see or feel them. Our understanding is more physical, as we struggle to control our minds, our mouths, and our bodies. Moses and Miriam knew that God saved them from the Egyptians. They had no doubt and absolutely no fear, because they knew He had done it.

Help me, Lord, to see you as Moses and Miriam did. Help me to live in such a way that You can go before me and fight the battles that I face in life.
