Does God really understand humanity? I think He understands us better than we understand ourselves. He tells His people to let the newlywed spend the majority of his first year with his bride. Why? They need to bond and form a relationship with one another with little time apart. He also tells them to treat those who are disadvantaged with respect and care. Those that could be taken advantage of are to be the ones that we, as God's people, share His love with whether in word or action. He also commands the people to leave a gleaning for the foreigners and the impoverished to take care of their physical needs. Do you see the generosity that God wants His people to exude? We are called to love others even when we are more concerned about our own needs. As citizens of the United States, it can be difficult to put other's needs ahead of our own, but as we mature in Christ, God shows us the joy of sharing our lives and our goods with those He brings to us. From the newlywed, to the foreigner, to the impoverished, God has called us to protect their rights and their needs. Are you up for the challenge? Are you ready to step outside your comfort zone and follow the Lord's leading with those people who need your love and support?

Help me, Lord, to generously give as You lead me to help those who are less fortunate and less able. Help me to find the truths of your Word as the catalyst for my actions towards those You bring into my life.
