What does God look like? It is a question asked by adults and children around the world. Some ideas are scary while others clearly promote a humanistic mindset, but Paul tells us that Jesus "is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation." When we think of what God looks like, we must find our answer in the person of Jesus Christ. He exemplified every attribute of God through His ministry and fulfilled His only goal by living a perfect life and dying on "an old rugged cross." That is what God looks like! Amazingly, this omniscient, omnipotent, and omni--present Being has chosen to redeem us from our sin instead of leaving us in the "domain of darkness." Paul goes on to remind us that by Jesus "all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities -- all things have been created by Him and for Him." This is the Jesus we celebrate everyday and from Him we learn who God really is and just how deep His love is for humanity. The cross reconciles us to God through the blood of Jesus creating peace between God and His creation. His ultimate goal is to "present you before Him holy, blameless, and beyond reproach." Can we attain that? We cannot, but Jesus can . When we look to Him and see His incredible love, His unmatched wisdom, and His amazing grace, we must agree with God about our sin and our unwise decisions and find who we are in Christ.

Help me, Lord, to stop relying upon my own righteousness and to start relying upon Your's alone. Help me to see You just as You were in heaven, on earth, and especially on the cross understanding You alone can change me and sustain those changes in my life.
