Hannah's song gives us some incredible insight into her faith. Even when it seemed impossible, Hannah's faith never faltered; instead she saw God as her Rock and her Refuge whether she was barren or her quiver was full. She warned her nation not to turn its back on God, because He alone provides help and hope in our times of need. The sins of the sons of Eli reveal just how desperate people are without a Holy God to lean upon. They are stealing from the sacrifices given at the temple and they are stealing the honor of the women who spend time at the temple. Even after their father's warning, they continued in their sinful ways never grasping the incredible blessings they were missing in their rebellion. Two powerful lessons for our day...1. God is God no matter what is happening around you or in you. Trusting Him is the only way that any of us will make it through this day. 2. Sin is deadly and destructive and numbs us to the wondrous works God wants to do in our lives. We might want to judge Hophni and Phineas, but we would be foolish to do so. We must know that but for the grace of God, therego I. Keep your eyes on Jesus and fight sin with every ounce of your being, because a life lived in His blessings is more than worth it.

Help me, Lord, to keep my eyes on You throughout this day even when things do not go according to my plans. Help me to fight sin with every ounce of my being knowing that a life lived in sin can never compare to a life lived for You.
