It is so sad to see a nation that flourished under God's men over the last seventy years is now falling apart. Both Rehoboam and Jeroboam have rebelled against the Lord and are facing the consequences of their sin. Jeroboam loses the heir to his throne and is promised that the throne will be ripped from his family's future. Rehoboam is simply living on the fumes of his grandfather who pleased God and served Him faithfully. He is not leading the people towards godly pursuits; instead, he has set up "high" places for people to worship false gods. Have you ever walked closely with God and then chosen a different route for your life? Do you remember how good it was to follow the Lord and to enjoy His hand of blessing upon your life? Do you see the horrible consequences of your sin? Choices made in the flesh never lead to the best in life. As a matter of fact, they normally lead to complete misery. Rehoboam and Jeroboam are perfect examples. They could have enjoyed God's goodness, but they chose their sin over Him. How do we break that cycle in our lives? We must begin to be thankful for all the good that God has done. We must start praising Him for life's blessings which will help us live faithful and focused lives.

Help me, Lord, to walk faithfully with You believing You will protect my family and provide for my needs according to Your perfect will. Help me to continually take an inventory of Your goodness and use that as a motivation to be thankful.
